چکیده

Thin-layer chromatography was introduced by Stahl (1956) and has advantages over paper chromatography in speed, resolution, and smaller sample size. Also, the physical nature of the thin layer allows its treatment, where necessary, with strong acids and alkalis. It has been found possible to construct a satisfactory, cheap, and simple apparatus for the preparation of thin layers on glass carrier plates, so bringing the cost of this technique within the financial outlay of any laboratory.

A Modern Apparatus for Performing Flash Chromatography: An Experiment for the Organic Laboratory.

A modern apparatus for performing flash chromatography using commercially available, prepacked silica cartridges has been developed. The key advantage of this system, when compared to traditional flash chromatography, is its use of commercially available silica cartridges, which obviates the need for students to handle silica gel. The apparatus has been tested for its ability to perform separat...

Unidimensional Thin Layer Chromatography of Salicylic Acid Derivatives on Boric Acid-Impregnated Plates in Drugs Studies

A unidimensional Thin Layer Chromatography system for the separation of salicylic acid and its derivatives (sulfosalicylic acid and Aspirin) has been developed. The separation was successfully using a solvent system of chloroform-methanol-water-ammonium hydroxide 120:75:6:2 (V/V) as mobile phase on TLC plates impregnated with boric acid. The method is based on different behavior of investigated...

A direct-elution technique for the recovery of thin-layer samples.

The separation of compounds by chromatography is often followed by the need to separate the compounds from the stationary phase for quantification, rechromatography, or other analytical procedures. In thin-layer chromatography compounds are usually separated from the adsorbent by removal of the layer from the backing by scraping or suction, followed by elution of the compounds in columns or by ...
